Nusa Lembongan

Arriving in Nusa Lembongan is like an immediate relaxant. It can easily feel like your worlds away, a perfect time to have a break from technology and enjoy the present moment.

The natural beauty of Nusa Lembongan is stunning, I guess because there dis less tourists and less over-development. The green jungle like areas, the little beaches spread around the island…

Real People. Community. Doing jobs based on their surroundings… cutting up coconuts, gathering seaweed, cooking fish.

#4 Its Less Touristy Than Bali Mainland

Following on from #3, the tourist levels significantly decrease on Nusa Lembongan. Of course there are tourists around, but in one day we started recognising tourists. People we saw at the beach were also later at the same bar watching sunset. It’s a refreshing change.

If you want to go, it’s pretty easy to get to. A 30 minute boat ride from Sanur and you’re here!

Bali is commonly stereotyped as being touristy, a place to party and not exactly your ideal paradise. And in places like Kuta thats pretty much true. But, Bali has so many other sides, and on Nusa Lembongan you will see a dramatically different one. Peace. Quiet. Nature. Beauty.

I’ve always intended on doing the scooter thing, but then I get to a place and decide I’d rather not get to know the local hospital. Nusa Lembongan was different. Besides from the fact it’s the best way to explore the island, without many other transport options, there was very little traffic. Almost none. The occasional scooter. The occasional mini truck. So I actually felt comfortable to get a scooter, and the freedom was amazing. Stopping off wherever looked nice or interesting (Keep in mind that if you don’t ride a scooter at home, you are putting yourself at risk by hiring a scooter and you won’t be covered for scooter related incidents with travel insurance).
